Now here in Germany we also have the reality TV show at VOX called "Mein Restaurant" which is based on the original Australian show "My Restaurant Rules". Of course Germany is once again one of the last countries that broadcasts a show that was successful in other countries like Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark and New Zealand. Anyway, there are 5 couples from 5 cities in Germany. It is Hamburg, Munich, Leipzig, Cologne and Berlin where these couples run their restaurants figthing for against each other to be allowed to keep their restaurants open. Because every week the worst restaurant of them has to shut their doors. There is a jury that decides about the concept of the restaurant and how much money each restaurant gets from the TV-show. In the jury is Tim Mälzer, Eva Marian-Gestner and Christoph. With the money they got at the beginning of the show they had to restore an old building. The buildings for the restaurants were chosen by the broadcasting station VOX. Munich´s restaurant is called "Grinsekatze",Hamburg´s restaurant was named "Graurocks", the one in Leipzig "Tessanova", the one in Cologne "copa room" and the last but not least restaurant in Berlin was named "bloom".
At the current status of the show, the restaurants are open and you can go there for lunch and dinner. You can not reseve a table in those restaurants because that is one of the rules of the game. So only the first people at the restaurant get a table. This means that you have to have quite much luck to find a table.
At the last show the jury decided, which two restaurants are to vote to be closed. You can vote by phone for the restaurant you prefer. The one with less votes has to close on November 14, 15 minutes after the vote will be closed. On November 14 there is the first vote between the two restaurants "Grinsekatze" and "Tessanova". "Grinsekartze" started to motivate people in Munich with t-shirts with the words "Yes we can" on it;) In Leizig, the team fired their cook before the decision that they are one of the nominees was announced. He was responsible for the bad food review by the jury. At least this is the opinion of the restaurants managing director.
Finally only the winning restaurant can keep the doors open for ever. The other 4 restaurants have to close. In my opinion there will be a final vote between Hamburg with the "Graurocks" vs "Grinsekatze" from Munich.
What I couldn´t understand is as follows. A lot OTHER restaurants are serving sooo bad meals that and normally those restaurants should close. And here at this show, you have five excellent restaurants and 4 of them have to close again?! Impossible! Hopefully VOX will change the show concept this way that they announce that all five restaurents stay opened at the end of the show.

Blogging With an Acer Aspire From The Couch

Now I decided to buy a netboook. An Acer Aspire One (official Acer Website). It is so small, light and easy to use. So i can sit on the sofa and write my texts from there. It is so crazy. I´m almost an internet freak now. But the funny story is, I went to Media Markt, to have a look for all the different netbooks on Saturday afternoon. In the department for laptops and pc; next to the TV area. There was a group of 20 men who stood around a big flatscreen watching the football game on "Premiere". Hamburg vs Dortmund, but what luck for Hamburg they won 2:1. And the women were so lucky, because they could keep shopping without pressure. When the game was over, all shopping activities suddenly stopped and the store was empty:) hmm?!
But the bad thing on this day was that I would like to have a pink netbook, but this color was sold out. So I got a white one and I like it too. My idea is now, to fly to the USA to let make a great nice picture on my white cover:) Some of you know what I´m talking about.
"Bauer sucht Frau" vs "Farmer Wants a Wife"
Last week I saw a snap of the US version of "Bauer sucht Frau" called "Farmer Wants a Wife" on RTL.
And I must say that I love the US version of "Bauer sucht Frau" (which is based on the British original version, also called "Farmer Wants a Wife"). The farmers there have more fun and are more relexed than their colleagues from Germany. They have a better standard to live and they definitely look MUCH better than the German ones. :) But why? If I could decide, I would choose an US farmer. The German farmers are so shy and not open. You can see it in the TV show, "Bauer sucht Frau". You could mean, some of these farmers would live behind the moon. Maybe it is the first time for these German boys to have a girlfriend. And they are more friendly to their animals than to the girls who visit them. But is that really reality?
No. In my opinion there are also cool German farmers. But maybe they are not on the show because the cool German farmers already have girlfriends or wifes. Anyway, those farmers shown on TV don't increase the image of German farmers. They degrade their image more than the status quo really is.

A Perfect Dinner - warm up included

from flurfunk: even though friday was very exhausting, saturday wasn´t less. before we all should meet at handan´s place to have dinner, some of us met at osterstrasse for some coffees. even pedro came from wolfsburg and joined us too. after having coffee we had a little warm up party at karolina´s and alex´apartment. a very unstressed pre event where we had some beers and polish sausages.

"Burn After Reading" - at Abaton
On friday we met to watch the movie "Burn After Reading" at the Abaton cinema.
It was the first time for me, that I heard anything about this movie. Because we are a group of people from several different countries talking english, we decided to see the original english version. It was the perfect event for all of us.
I was very surprised about the movie. It was so funny and a really good movie. I was laughing for 1,5 hours. I can recommend it to all of you, if you have the time to see this movie.

"Klar" Classic Rock - Hamburg Rock Band

Basti, a friend and colleague, just sent me the latest program of his band "klar-rock". So I thought it would be a good idea to post a few words about them and a link to their website here. It´s always a pleasure when they play on Fischmarkt Hamburg! They play really fine rock music which is a nice variety compared with the other bands playing at Fischmarkt every sunday. Looking forward to one of your next concerts!

wow! when i took notice of the Daimler blog i was surprised. Daimler employees actually are writing a blog!? cool, really cool. on october 16 the Daimler blog celebrates his first birthday. really innovative that a group like Daimler lets people publicly post what they do and what they think. from my point of view more companies and groups should run corporate blogs. congrats to stuttgart and happy first birthday, Daimler blog!

Watching Soccer And Having Drinks At The "Carbar"

M&M Goodbye Tour Part 3:
Our last part of the tour was the funniest part, from my point of view. While the brasilian guy and the austrian guy picked the last bottles of beer from the flat of the leaving mexicans, the rest of us went to an other bar watching the Barcelona soccer game. After the brasilian guy parked his japanese racing car in front of the bar where we were watching the football game, the real party started.

Dinner at Marrakech in Ottensen

M&M Goodbye Tour Part 2:
After playing minigolf we had a reservation ;) for dinner at a restaurant called Marrakech, located in Hamburg Ottensen/ Altona. We´ve never been there before but we were surprised. In a positive way! The soup we got as a starter was phenomenal and also the buffet was very delicious. But definitely one of the best things we had there, was the red wine the french guy of our clique ordered. Besides great food there was one more thing that surprised me. One of our mexican guys told me that he knows Hansi Hinterseer. Heee? wtf?
Well, after we got our dessert, our leaving mexican friend had to bring home his tired girls.

Indoor Minigolf at Gilde Bowling Wandsbek

M&M Goodbye Tour Part 1:
Because 3 of our friends are moving from Hamburg to Mexico, the whole clique organized a little "Goodbye Tour" for them. This tour started at Gilde Bowling in Hamburg Wandsbek, with a small competition in minigolf. As we were 8, we divided our clique in 2 teams and the winning team should receive a round of beer. I was a team member of the winning team and so I can tell you that it was really funny to play minigolf, but I never saw the beers for the winners. However, it was my first time playing minigolf indoors and I can really recommend it!
